The Spanish region of Rioja has been described as “Burgundy wine with Bordeaux history.”  Long sitting in the shadows of its more famous French cousins to the North, Rioja has undergone a quality revolution and now stands ready to claim its rightful place as one of the world’s finest wines.  Come learn about the changes being made and taste the results!

This class will be presented by Certified Wine Educator Michael Lane, one of only 380 people in the world to pass all portions of the exam leading to that title since it was founded by the Society of Wine Educators in 1977.  Also a Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers with over 25 years of experience in the wine industry, Michael is the fine wine specialist for Epiphany Wine Company and Mutual Distributors of North Carolina, as well as volunteering as an instructor for the OLLI Wine Society at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and for Cape Fear Community College’s Culinary program.

Cost to attend the tasting is $25, plus tax and gratuity per person.

After the educational tasting, The Clubs invites you to stay and enjoy a dinner buffet created especially for the evening.

Cost to attend the optional dinner buffet is $24 plus tax and gratuity per person.
